Practicum Application for Students

Serving individuals, couples, families, groups, as well as specialized populations

Would you like to work to improve your physical, emotional and psychological health and wellness in order to increase your sense of well‐being, alleviate feelings of stress, reframe negative thoughts, or work through any recent crises or past traumas? 

​Your current thoughts, behaviours, feelings, environment or circumstances may be maintaining stress, grief, anxiety, depression, addiction, or other issues. Counselling or psychotherapy provides the focus and intention—through individualized tools, techniques, and a strong therapeutic alliance—for you to process issues towards your future growth, development or change.

Rates – $180 (50-60mins) - $250 (75-90mins). Payment – Due at the end of your in-person session.
Free Consult – A 15-minute phone or in-person consultation is available at no charge to potential new clients.
Methods of Payment – Cash, eTransfer, Debit or Credit Card. Sliding Scale – Available when low or no insurance coverage.
Extended Health Plans – Talk to your benefits provider to see if "psychotherapist" is covered and note the annual total.
Cancellation Fee – 1 'freebie,' then $50 for cancellations made less than 24 hours before a scheduled appointment time.
Cancel or Change Appointment – Call or email; for appts made online, changes possible online until <24 hours before.

Hello, my name is Maralyn Ellis. ​I am passionate in recognizing and honouring individual differences and in being a catalyst for change in order to help find the unique path forward towards health and healing for clients with stress, anxiety, depression and triggers or trauma. My formal education is in psychology, environmental studies, and psychotherapy—including Hypnosis, EMDR, IFS-informed EMDR—with experience working with individuals, couples and families. My background includes career counselling at Futures Found and job skills development with Autism Job Club. ​I enjoy helping people of all ages to better their overall wellbeing—in life and on the job—with a special interest in autistic/adhd/gifted clients with concurrent, persistent mental health concerns.

•Accept that some anxiety and fear is normal
•Seek credible information
•Assess your personal risk
•Find a balance: stay tuned-in but know when to take a breather
•Bring an intentional mindset to unplugging
•Deal with problems in a structured way
•Remember you are resilient and be careful with "What ifs"

•Practice relaxation and meditation
